Do you practice what you preach?

To be an effective healer, you must work on your own healing every day. That involves tending to your physical, emotional, and spiritual health and healing. You must practice what you preach.

  1. The nurse as a healer is a huge topic which I really do not believe is addressed very well in nursing school. I have only realized that I am a healer and through education (Healing Touch and Energy Work) did I encounter myself as a healer. Yes, one must work on oneself which is a life long process so that we are able to be effective healers. How has anyone else learned to be a healer as a nurse?

  2. It is difficult to look at one’s self at depth. The healer is a nurturer, but at what cost? If not mindful to the self, the notion of ‘human being’ is really along the order of ‘human doing’. Brought up with 15 sibs, matching my actions with what comes out of my mouth has proved to be challenging. When congruent, efficacy with self, those around me and in my care thrive. And yes, engagement at many levels is necessary and takes daily attentive practice.
